Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. These traits were natural for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by talented parents as well as a loving and supportive family. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion in "The Shamrock Rovers" famous Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child of Charles FitzSimons. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very proficient at it. The combination of this natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. She was the recipient of nearly every Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances is a testimony to this. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dreams of classical theater and opera singing.
